Hire Logan McGrady.
I always teach my students to get right to the point in their stories, and my story today is about one of the brightest students I’ve ever had the privilege to know.
Logan was named Editor-in-chief for our campus newspaper, The Michigan Times, even though he had essentially no experience in journalism. The thing is – he’s just so darn bright and personable that the Board of Student Publications felt he was the clear choice to lead our publication.
And we were right! Logan has done a great job managing a staff of students of varying skills and motivation levels. He dealt with a series of budget changes from our university administration. He handled it all with energy, creativity and without whining. Very few of our editors from the past would’ve thrived in this difficult situation, but Logan took it all in stride, displaying commendable maturity and leadership.
His writing and business skills are strong. Logan’s weekly column was a must-read for students on campus because he wrote about their lives, always urging them to challenge themselves.
If I were looking to hire a young man with brains, energy and leadership, and one who plays well with the rest of the team, Logan would be my first hire. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
